The Australian government announced that a visa pre-application (ballot) process would soon be implemented for the high-demand Australia Working and Holiday visa countries of India, Vietnam and China. This pre-application process, sometimes known as a ‘ballot’, is a fair, simplified, and transparent method of randomly selecting applicants from partner countries where the number of registrations far outnumbers the number of spots available in a program year.
The Australia working holiday visa is available for citizens of eligible countries aged between 18-30 (35 for French, Canadian citizens). You can apply for either a subclass 462 or subclass 417 visa. Starting from September 2024, you can return to Australia if you meet certain conditions, including being under 36 years old and not having previously done regional work or three years of a working holiday visa.

Under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), up to 1,000 Indian citizens each year will have the opportunity to apply for this visa. Eligible Indian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 can visit Australia for one year, undertaking short-term work and study during their stay.
